Organizations have many priorities, most centered around providing the best customer experience possible. Recognizing the complexity of the global marketplace and the need for meeting customer requirements, DMS has developed flexible options to help measure, structure, implement, and integrate cultural competence and workplace diversity practices for success.
Because Diversity Management Strategists takes a systems and continuous improvement approach to diversity management, we strongly recommend measurement and benchmarking as starting points for developing a well structured diversity action plan.
DMS developed the Diversity Process Assessment (DPA) for organizational assessment of workplace diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency performance. Modeled after ISO 9000 and Malcolm Baldrige approaches to Total Quality Management, the DPA is “best practices” and process driven. It measures organizational processes related to a “sustainable diversity management system” as opposed to measuring "individuals" attitudes and opinions.
The DPA obtains data from all levels and employee's of the organization. Data from the DPA can be used to identify any gaps between organizational levels, geographic regions, operating units. Best practices can also be captured through the DPA and shared with other locations or departments. The DPA provides valuable insights, with respect to diversity, in the following five categories:
- Leadership
- Communication
- Organizational Processes
- External Relations
- Systems Criteria
Results from the assessment provide insight to what your organization may or may not be DOING to foster a diverse and inclusive working environment. Another key value with the Diversity Process Assessment is the Summary Report with Action Plan for improvement that is derived from the assessment results. |
